END
Anchillique is going offline.
After much passion and struggle, we unfortunately have to say: the government regulations have done us in.
FOK ZEM!
With a heavy heart, we are stopping the sale of seeds. Not because it is completely impossible, but because the new regulations no longer make it workable or fun. Certification, testing and inspections cost so much money and effort that spontaneity and passion disappear. Even exchanging seeds between hobby growers is officially no longer allowed.
Not only we, but also you – the hobby growers and enthusiasts – lose something valuable because of this. No more special, unique chili peppers from small-scale cultivation. No freedom to choose from a wide range. This is an attack on the diversity and pleasure of growing.
For example, the government requires that every seed goes through an expensive and complicated inspection process. Large companies can afford that, but for hobby growers it is an endless list of rules and paperwork. We have been doing it for years, but the costs and restrictions mean that it is no longer of any use to us. What was once a free and fun hobby is being stifled by regulations.
What started for us as a spicy adventure of growing, experimenting and sharing, is now coming to an end. After 12.5 years of love and passion, we are now closing Anchillique.nl
Our hope lies with you.
Keep experimenting, find ways to maintain diversity and do not let this passion die out. We will continue to support you, always and as much as we can.
Thank you for your support and love for chili peppers. This is not a farewell to the passion - only to a system that gets in the way of hobbyists.
Spicy greetings,
Anchillique
Angelique and Tom
PS. We appreciate not being asked questions about policy and regulations; it’s all painful enough as it is. More info about this can be found at:
